According to a 2005 Florida Highway Patrol news article, driving on Florida highways became busier, deadlier and more dangerous in 2004, according to an annual report released recently by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The number of cars, trucks, SUVs and vans on the road swelled in 2004 to more than 14,512,000, the Florida Traffic Crash Statistics Report said. In 2004, 2,936 crashes killed more than 3,250 people, an increase of 2.5 percent. "It's sad that people won't buckle up," said Lt. Bill Ferrell. "We've sold this for many, many, many years as a highway patrol that people buckle up because we know for a fact that seatbelts save lives."
Often times, it can be difficult to identify the negligent party in a pile up involving multiple vehicles. While one driver may have caused the initial impact, other drivers may also be a contributing cause to the crash. For this reason, it is imperative to seek legal counsel immediately.
